Weekend Recap

I have officially finished the fall semester! I cannot be more excited. Its bittersweet I guess. One more semester until the real world hits. Ewww. adulthood.

My sister and her boyfriend flew in on Thursday night and then they headed for Arizona with my mom to visit some family. I stayed home to babysit my dad ๐Ÿ™‚ he doesn’t know what to do when he is by himself. haha

We tried to keep the weekend full and exciting while trying not to get on each others nerves and kill each other. We managed pretty well!

Saturday we went to Knotts Berry Farm. It has been FOREVER since I have been there, so it was pretty fun. You know you are getting old though when you get off every ride super dizzy though. #grandma

On Sunday I was given the task of entertaining the dogs all morning because they were keeping my dad awake and he wanted to sleep. Life’s rough. We were out the door and on our walk by 6:15. Dogs are like little kids. They don’t ever leave you alone ๐Ÿ™‚

On Sunday night, we went around and looked at all of the Christmas lights. There were some really well done houses.

We have already been scolded for going without the rest of the family, so we will be going again in the next few days.

My mom and sister are back in town now, so we are in full swing Christmas craze mode. Two more days!

How was your weekend?

Have you finished all of your holiday shopping?

October Favorites

Happy Halloween!

Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday was October 1. Geez. Before we know it, Thanksgiving will be over and then Christmas will be here. Woah. Stop me before I start stressing out and getting way too far ahead of myself. Lets stick with October for the time being.

Its time for another Monthly Favorites post!

Beauty:

I received this nail polish by 7 Free in my Ipsy subscription last month and really love it. It is a deep red and perfect for the Fall and Winter months. I especially love that it is vegan with no animal testing used. Yay!

Dr. Perricone Lip Plumper. I am usually very against lip plumper, because they are painful and not very good for your lips at all. This lip treatment has no tingly effect like the other products and does make your lips look enhanced at all. In fact, I don’t even think of it as a plumper. I use it solely for chapped lips and it works amazingly well! It has anti aging properties and is very moisturizing. Highly recommended!

Fitness:

I am loving all things group fitness these days. When I wasn’t in the healthiest mindset, I focused completely on cardio and didn’t care the slightest bit about weight lifting or strength exercises. I have changed my thinking and am loving lifting weights again. Group classes give me some direction and are also more motivating than trying to figure out new workouts all the time.

These Pro Compression leggings are amazing! I have been looking for new leggings for a while now that are not quite as expensive as Lulu Lemon, but are good quality. These are perfect. I got them on sale so they were a decent price, and I love them! They have a roll down waistband to adjust how high/low you want and also have cuffs that roll up on the legs as well. Success!

Foods:

It is all about the roasted vegetables. Cauliflower, mushrooms, and zucchini/squash are some of my favorites.

I am also obsessed with frozen yogurt, but that isn’t new for this month. I am ALWAYS loving froyo!

Books:

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to read anything this month other than textbooks, but I really want to read Gone Girl! That is next on my list.

Have you read or seen Gone Girl?

What are you going to be for Halloween?

That’s Not Inspirational

Fitspiration. Motivation. Dedication. Healthy. Inspirational.

Pictures of ridiculously in shape and very skinny girls are all over the internet. Some of them are captioned with ridiculous sayings that they claim are supposed to be inspirational to get you motivated to start a healthy lifestyle, or workout. Honestly though, most of those photos do more harm than good.

There are times when your body needs a rest, or you really want to enjoy that piece of pizza or that bowl of ice cream. Will all of your hard work reverse if you do? NO!

I used to get really upset when I saw these “fitspiration” pictures All.Over.The.Internet! Now, I try to think rationally. Are these pictures doing me any good? I try to avoid seeing them now to avoid the feelings they bring up for me.

A few days ago, one of my friends posted a picture of her very thinย self on Instagram with a caption going along the lines of “this is what six days a week, hot yoga, and clean eating does for you.” I was alarmed.

I thought to myself, why don’t I look that way? Why aren’t my abs visible like that? Where did my thigh gap go? Why don’t I eat clean every meal of the day?

And then I snapped out of it. I lived that way for way too long and lived in misery. I want to enjoy my life and not be put on a strict plan. Life is too short to not enjoy it.

Before you get down on yourself for missing one workout or not being as skinny as the girl next to you, remember, we are all different. Being healthy means enjoying life. Do not be so hard on yourself.

Fitspiration is not always inspiration.
